We hear about ecology, organic materials, vegan leather... But what does it mean and what is its impact on our daily lives?

For Lecopain, transparency is fundamental, so we tell you how we contribute to the sustainable maintenance of our planet.

SKIN MADE FROM APPLES

At Lecopain we use a vegan skin made from apple compost leftovers.

30,000 tons of apples per year

During agricultural production, around 30,000 tons of apples are discarded per year that cannot be consumed for various reasons.
Lecopain reuses these leftovers by turning them into the vegan leather of our accessories.

34%

Recycled PU

In order to manufacture the vegan leather we use 32% apples along with 34% organic cotton and 34% recycled PU.
The result is an ultra-soft, shiny and water-resistant leather with a feel similar to that of the highest quality animal skin.

In this way we are using biological remains without creating new materials.

5.28 kg

63 %

carbon footprint

With each kilogram of reused apple we are saving 5.28 kg of CO2.
This translates into a 63% reduction of the carbon footprint compared to other materials such as PU or animal leather.

IMPORTANCE OF USING ORGANIC COTTON

Organic cotton means that it has been grown using sustainable and clean methods, allowing the soil to regenerate naturally.
In this way, the soil remains healthy and is able to continue to support crops in the long term.

We save

2.000L of water / ton

Natural cotton processing

The production process of organic cotton does not end with its cultivation.
Once harvested, the fibers are processed with natural methods, without toxic products or pollutants, reducing the use of water to a minimum.
Using organic cotton saves 2,000L of water per ton of cotton compared to using traditional cotton, no toxic products are poured into the soil, and crop rotation allows farming families to have several sources of income without relying solely on cotton.

Organic production systems

To avoid negative environmental impact, organic production systems use techniques such as crop rotation and composting.
They also avoid the use of pesticides, toxic fertilizers and genetically modified seeds.
This ensures that the soil is kept alive, retains the water it needs and can be combined with other crops to produce cotton in a way that respects the rhythm of the land.

PETA CERTIFIED VEGAN LEATHER

Our leather is vegan, water resistant, and is PETA and USDA Bio-Preferred certified.

USE OF renewable energies

The apples in our skin are of Italian origin and are manufactured in Italy using 100% renewable energy.

Stainless steel

Stainless steel is one of the most environmentally friendly metals available due to its durability, recyclability and low environmental footprint.

Low environmental impact

By opting for stainless steel, it encourages a more sustainable practice in terms of product life cycle, aligning with environmental principles of reducing environmental impact and promoting responsible practices.

Recyclability

Facilitates the process of reusing this material in the manufacture of new products, thus contributing to the conservation of natural resources and minimizing the demand for raw materials.

360L

Our buckles and carabiners are made with 316L stainless steel, one of the highest quality, used for surgical use and high jewelry.

Corrosion resistance

It means that products made from this material have a long service life, reducing the need for frequent replacement and, therefore, waste generation.

60%

Our stainless steel is made from at least 60% recycled steel.

CIRCULAR FASHION

Circular economy is also possible for our pets.

By using biological remains of compost we avoid the production of new materials, reducing the carbon footprint.
We use what nature gives us, recycling or taking advantage of the remains so that the materials circulate without creating new ones, giving a second life to the components with which the Lecopain articles are made.

TRACEABILITY

We have reduced the distances of our raw materials as much as possible in order to reduce our carbon footprint.

Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant

Our atelier is certified EPV (Entreprise du Patrimoine Vivant).

EPV is a certificate issued by the Institut National de l’Art, which is awarded by the French state to French craftsmen with exceptional know-how and an exceptional historical trajectory.
This certificate brings together manufacturers with the same vision of the product and of the company: a demanding approach to their know-how and their products, constant internal training, an innovative approach both technically and socially, and a dynamic commercial strategy.
It is the only state certification granted to a company for its entire activity, guaranteeing the excellence of its know-how.
Maison Lecopain is proud to have a team of professionals who continue to work with traditional techniques to create unique luxury objects.

RECYCLED PAPER

We try to dematerialize the processes at Lecopain as much as possible.
Even so, when we have to use cardboard or paper, we always use recycled paper and cardboard.
